Buying a home, one step at a time
Here is how it usually goes, from the first call to the day you get the keys.

1. The first call
We talk about what you want in a home, where you want to live, and when you hope to move. There is no cost to talk. Ask me anything, even the questions that feel silly. I will also ask about your budget, your must-haves, and anything that worries you about the process.
-
2. Get your money side ready
Talk to a lender early. They will look at your income and savings and tell you what you may be able to borrow. I can share names of lenders others have used, but the choice is yours. The calculator below gives a rough idea of a monthly payment.
-
3. Make your list and start looking
We write down what you need and what you only want. Then we look at homes online and in person. Plan to see several. Your list will probably change as you go, and that is normal. A home that looked perfect online can feel different when you walk in.
-
4. Make an offer
When a home feels right, we talk about the price and the terms. I write the offer with you. The seller can accept it, say no, or come back with changes. We go back and forth until both sides agree or one walks away. Either way, you are never pushed to say yes.
-
5. Inspection and review
After an offer is accepted, you can hire an inspector to look at the home. We read the report together and talk about what to do next. The lender will also review the home and your paperwork.
-
6. Closing
Closing is when you sign the final papers and pay what is due. Before that, you do a last walk-through of the home. After closing, you get the keys. I stay in touch afterward in case you have questions about the home or the neighborhood.
Estimate a monthly payment
Type a few numbers to see a rough monthly payment. Commas and dollar signs are fine.
An estimate only. It is not a loan offer or a quote.
